When trouble comes
My brothers and sisters in Christ may Grace and peace be unto you.

I thank God for the generosity with which He has shown me, for what measure of gifts that have been bestowed upon me.

Winston Churchill, was best known for his leadership of the United Kingdom during World War II. He was Prime Minister of the UK from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. He received the Nobel Prize in 1953. He was quoted as saying  "Truth is incontrovertible. Panic may resent it; ignorance may deride it; malice may distort it; but there it is." "Men have to find truth; not because it is lost, but because they are lost."
--Ivan N. Panin

In life, It seems that  when trouble comes, it comes in waves. ("Man who is born of woman Is of few days and full of trouble" Job 14:1) When trouble and uncertainty comes it is human nature for people to revert back to their own natural prejudices and former lifestyles.  When trouble and uncertainty comes and  we are pressured to step out of fellowship with the Lord what will you do? Will you go with the flow, running away from the inevitable waves and currents that buffet and frighten the weak, or will you swim upstream against the current which makes for the weak to become strong?.

Eph 4:22-25  That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.  Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor :  for we are members one of another. If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

We are all creatures of habit, if we repeat an action enough times, it becomes an unconscious habit. Try developing the habit of professing Gods power in your life and the assurances he has given you ,recognizing  God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.2 Timothy 1:7

Obtaining a Blessing

I want to talk a little bit about obtaining a blessing. With all that is going on around us these day’s it is easy to forget that in the middle of it all we can still obtain a blessing. God did not say “I will only bless you during good times and not during the bad times. There are biblical principles that if we pay attention to them we can obtain more of god’s blessing.

1PETER 3:8-12 “finally all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love of the brethren, a tender heart and a humble mind. Do not return evil for evil or reviling: but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing.”

This verse tells us that god wants to bestow a blessing upon us but it also comes with conditions (love each other, be tender hearted, remain humble, do not return evil for evil). Not all but many of gods promises of blessings found in the bible come with a condition. You might call it the fine print in the contract.  But god does not hide the fine print in his contract; we just choose to ignore it. We want the joy without the suffering the crown without the cross, Easter Sunday without good Friday. But resurrections follow crucifixions.  Sometimes to get what you have never had, you have to do what you have never done, experience what you’ve never experienced, and go through what you have never gone through. God is faithful: he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will provide a way out so that you can still stand. There is a path for believers to receive blessings on the other side of going through “stuff” but not by ignoring the way of the cross.
